Recreational Programs
Enhancing Social Skills, Independence, and Well-Beign Through Recreation
Recreational activities play an important role in enhancing the quality of life for individuals with developmental disabilities by creating opportunities for social connection, physical activity, community engagement, and personal growth. Activities such as bowling, beach days, movie outings, walking clubs, and community events provide welcoming spaces where participants can build friendships, strengthen confidence, and engage in meaningful experiences. Through recreation, individuals are encouraged to explore their interests, develop communication and social skills, and increase independence while participating in fun and enriching activities. These experiences promote emotional well-being, community connection, self-esteem, and a greater sense of belonging. At Cedar Bridge Foundation, recreation is more than just fun, it is an opportunity to build confidence, relationships, and lasting memories.
Bowling Meetup
Bowling offers a fantastic opportunity for individuals with exceptional needs to engage in a fun and non-competitive activity, crucial for both social and personal development. Held every week, these events are designed to be enjoyable and inclusive, allowing members to experience the thrill of bowling in a supportive environment. Participating in bowling helps improve physical coordination, enhances fine motor skills, and promotes healthy exercise, all while fostering social interactions in a group setting. This regular activity not only serves as a fun outing but also supports participants in building friendships and community connections, enhancing their social circle and emotional well-being. Join us for a strike-filled day of excitement and camaraderie at our next bowling event!
Movie Matinee
Every month, our Movie Matinee event is a perfect chance for our community to come together and enjoy a great flick with some delicious popcorn. These gatherings are held in a cozy, welcoming environment where everyone can relax and enjoy the cinematic experience. Including movies in our monthly activities is crucial because films are not only entertaining but also stimulate emotional and cognitive responses. They provide a shared experience that fosters discussions, laughter, and deeper connections among attendees. Movies can also expose viewers to different cultures and perspectives, enhancing social understanding and empathy within our exceptional needs community.
Beach Day Gathering
Our Beach Days are a cherished tradition, designed to bring together individuals with special needs, their families, friends, and supporters in a fun, inclusive setting by the ocean. These gatherings are all about creating a sense of community, celebrating individuality, and enjoying the simple joys of nature. This is a wonderful opportunity for everyone to unwind, make new connections, and deepen friendships in a supportive environment. As the weather cools down in the winter months, our Beach Days become even more special with the addition of a cozy beach warming fire. This allows everyone to gather around, roast marshmallows, share laughs, and take in the beautiful coastal sunset. Each Beach Day gathering strengthens our community, builds lasting memories, and brings a sense of joy and relaxation that participants look forward to all year long.
Bridge to Fitness
Cedar Bridge Foundation works with community organizations and leaders to offer Bridge to Fitness, a program that includes variety of activities focused around health and well-being. Recently we help coordinate and facilitate Bridge to Fitness with the Bunnell Sheriff’s PAL program which is designed to promote physical health, mental well-being, and overall fitness for individuals with exceptional needs. This program includes activities such as strength building, fitness routines, gross motor skill development, and coordination exercises, all essential for enhancing physical abilities and promoting a healthy lifestyle. Fitness is especially important for the exceptional needs population as it supports improved mobility, increased independence, and a sense of accomplishment. Regular physical activity not only boosts physical health but also significantly benefits mental health, helping to reduce anxiety, improve mood, and enhance self-confidence.
