Social and Life Skills Group-Self Care
Our Self-Care Class for Individuals with Developmental Disabilities (17+) is designed to empower participants with essential tools and strategies to care for their physical, emotional, and mental well-being. This interactive class provides a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment where individuals can learn practical skills tailored to their unique needs. The class focuses on teaching self-care practices that promote independence, confidence, and overall wellness. Topics include personal hygiene, developing and maintaining daily grooming routines, healthy habits such as nutrition, hydration, and exercise, stress management techniques like mindfulness and relaxation exercises, and strategies for building and maintaining positive relationships while setting healthy boundaries. Participants will also discover activities that bring joy, calm, and fulfillment through hands-on activities, group discussions, and guided exercises, ensuring the lessons are both engaging and easy to apply in daily life.
Self-care is vital for everyone, but it’s especially important for individuals with developmental disabilities as it fosters independence by building routines that promote self-reliance, boosts confidence by encouraging a sense of achievement and pride in managing personal care, and enhances emotional well-being by reducing stress and anxiety through effective coping tools. It also improves social skills, helping individuals develop better relationships through self-awareness, and ultimately enhances their quality of life by empowering them to take an active role in their happiness and health. By participating in this class, individuals gain valuable life skills and a sense of belonging, as well as the confidence to navigate their world with greater independence and joy. Join us in creating a supportive space where growth and self-care are celebrated!
