Community Involvement

Empowering Individuals with Developmental Disabilities through Active Participation

Community engagement and involvement are vital for individuals with disabilities, providing them with opportunities to participate actively in society and influence their own lives positively. At Cedar Bridge Foundation, we emphasize the importance of integrating individuals with disabilities into the broader community, recognizing that their involvement can lead to richer, more diverse, and inclusive community experiences for everyone. By leveraging local resources and fostering collaborations between organizations, we can create a supportive network that significantly enhances the services available to the special needs community. These partnerships are essential, as they not only broaden the scope of support and activities available but also promote mutual understanding and respect between community members. Active participation in community life helps individuals with disabilities gain confidence, develop new skills, and establish social connections, contributing to their overall well-being and sense of belonging. We are committed to facilitating these connections and ensuring that every individual has the opportunity to contribute to and thrive within their community.

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Group

The Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) group was started by Carrie Todd and hosted by Palm Coast Parks and Recreation. This group provides a supportive community for adults with autism and other related developmental disabilities. Meeting twice a month, the ASD group gathers at the Palm Coast Community Center or at nearby parks to engage in a variety of activities designed to foster social interaction and personal growth. Participants have the opportunity to explore their interests in art, sports, dancing, and more, all in a welcoming and adaptive environment. These sessions not only encourage skill development and recreation but also help in building friendships and enhancing life skills among attendees. Cedar Bridge Foundation members attend these meetings regularly, exemplifying the importance of collaboration and unity in delivering vital services to the special needs community.

Quarterly Town Hall Meetings

Our quarterly town hall meetings are a vital part of fostering open communication and community engagement. These gatherings provide a space for members, families, and community stakeholders to come together, share insights, and discuss important updates and developments. We provide comprehensive updates on our initiatives, introduce new programs, and highlight upcoming events. Additionally, these meetings are a wonderful opportunity to share in our mission by learning about volunteer opportunities that directly support our work. Attendees can voice their needs, suggestions, and concerns, ensuring that everyone’s voice is heard and valued. Our town hall meetings reinforce our community’s strong bonds and ensure we continue to grow and evolve in ways that serve the best interests of those we support. We invite you to join us at our next meeting to learn more about our efforts, contribute to the conversation, volunteer, and help shape the future of Cedar Bridge Foundation

Volunteering & Giving Back

At Cedar Bridge Foundation, we believe that giving back to the community is an essential way for individuals with developmental disabilities to experience a sense of belonging, purpose, and empowerment. Volunteering not only provides opportunities for individuals to contribute their unique skills and talents, but it also enhances self-esteem, promotes personal growth, and fosters connections within the larger community. When individuals with developmental disabilities are actively involved in giving back, they experience the pride of being valued community members, which strengthens their confidence and sense of identity. This important aspect of our mission aligns with our vision of creating an inclusive world where everyone is celebrated for their abilities and has a meaningful role in shaping a vibrant, supportive community. Together, we lift each other up and ensure that everyone’s contributions matter.

Safety & Protection

Starting in 2025, Cedar Bridge Foundation is proud to introduce our Safety and Protection Workshops, specifically designed for individuals with developmental disabilities. Recognizing the critical importance of fostering autonomy and independence, these workshops are tailored to empower participants with the knowledge and skills necessary for staying safe in various environment; community, home, and online in the digital age. Our curriculum will cover essential safety protocols, strategies for personal protection, and the responsible use of digital tools to navigate the internet securely. By equipping our community members with these crucial life skills, we aim to enhance their confidence and ability to make informed decisions, ensuring they remain safe while actively participating in and contributing to their communities. This initiative is a fundamental part of our commitment to creating an inclusive, supportive environment where every individual is empowered to live a fulfilling, autonomous life.
